Caracas, July 23, 2024.- To continue with the 2ndMeeting for a World Social Alternative, Iñaki Gil, representative of the Network in Defense of Humanity, emphasized the need to organize the peoples to confront capitalism.
He specified that any initiative for the organization of the peoples is incompatible with capitalism and further explained that it must be accompanied byself-management and expansion or it is destined to fail.
In this regard, he pointed out that self-managementalso implies self-determination, stating, “I am determining how I must act; I am determiningmyself.”
He indicated that the right to self-determination is the same for both the leaders of the United States and a girl from Palestine who has been bombed along with her entire family, asserting that they are not “talkingabout bourgeois and socialist rights.”
Furthermore, Rodolfo Carrizo from the Center of Ex-Combatants of the Malvinas Islands specified thatArgentina must currently decide between being a homeland or a colony; as with the signing of the presidential decree known as 7023, it opens the doors to foreign ownership and to large concentratedgroups in the capitalist economy. He also warnedthat this facilitates the appropriation of natural resources by the Empire.
He also said that the “Malvinas is a case of colonialism; currently, it hosts the most importantmilitary base that NATO has in the SouthernHemisphere.”
Additionally, Hindu Anderi from the Platform of Solidarity with the Palestinian Cause began his intervention by referencing the upcoming Venezuelanelectoral process on July 28, stating that “we are notonly going to reelect President Nicolás Maduro; weare going to reelect a revolutionary process.”
In this regard, he specified that by voting forcandidate Nicolás Maduro, the people will be votingagainst fascism and Zionism, while emphasizing the need to put a stop to this evil that is present everywhere. “We see it even when we want to launch investment campaigns and how difficult itbecomes for us because it is a great octopus thathas taken hold of the global economy.”
Anderi highlighted the struggle that the VenezuelanNational Assembly is undertaking to combat fascismwith the second discussion of a legal instrument thatpunishes this evil.
He also questioned why the situation in Gaza is labeled as a war and not for what it truly is, a genocide against the Palestinian people.
During his speech, he proposed strengthening aninternational platform of solidarity with the Palestinianpeople, which should be “respectful of the autonomies and the characteristics of eachorganization, but where we can converge organizations to strengthen the work for Palestine,” he concluded.

Caracas, July 23, 2024 – At the 2nd Meeting for a World Social Alternative in Caracas, representatives from different organizations around the world shared their perspectives on the fight for the rights of historically oppressed and displaced communities during the panel: “Alternative for Peoples’ Rights and Reparations.”
The meeting, convened by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) and the Simon Bolivar Institute (ISB), aimed to promote unity and agree on an agenda to protect the region against imperial attacks.
Amzat Boukari, member of the Pan-African League UMOJA, emphasized the importance of Pan-Africanism as an anti-capitalist movement.
“In our vision, we oppose the exploitation of man by man,” he said, urging the search for a socialism based on the indigenous values of solidarity and unity among African peoples.
Julieta Paredes, from Bolivia, addressed the need for a communal feminism that rescues the memory of peoples. “Women are half of a people, half of the solutions, half of the hopes,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of epistemic decolonization and the recognition of history in the struggle for gender rights.
Paredes also highlighted the resistance process of indigenous peoples, which dates back to over 500 years of historical accumulation of struggles and defense of their territories.
Cikiah Thomas, from the Global African Congress, provided insight on the lasting effects of slavery, stating that “the United Nations recognized that slavery and the slave trade are crimes against humanity that do not prescribe.” This statement resonates with the need for reparations and historical justice.
Finally, Justine Teba, co-founder of the Red Nation organization, emphasized the fundamental role of people’s organization in the creation of new ideas. “We (the indigenous peoples) are the political alternative in the United States,” she expressed, while also denouncing the colonial context that continues to affect indigenous communities in that country.

Caracas, July 23, 2024.- The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, said this Tuesday that the call for the 2nd Meeting for a World Social Alternative is “fundamental for us to determine what to do concretely,” as he affirmed that social movements have clarity and consensus in the diagnosis, “in who the enemy is, what their characteristics are, and in what phase they are.”
“I believe that the great challenge, the great task, is what we do together to overcome it” – the common enemy – highlighted in the Plenary session “World Social Alternative and current challenges” of the event, taking place in the “Simon Bolivar” Hall at the Bolivar Theater in Caracas, until this Wednesday, July 24.
The ALBA-TCP speaker indicated that “our peoples are in resistance, but how do we move from this to the offensive phase?” therefore, he insisted on the call to achieve common agreements or minimum consensus and for the revolutionary governments in power in some of the countries of the Alliance to guide their policies in a consensual direction, in these assemblies of the World Social Alternative, with social movements and peoples of the world, along with small parties in resistance in countries hegemonically dominated by capital and bourgeois liberal democracy.
Arreaza summarized that the purpose is to generate a definitive document in which “we all feel identified, a tool of struggle that identifies us, to generate a common program of minimum agreements that allows us, from using it as a flag, as a shield against the bullets of repression, to implementing public policies in our countries, municipalities, communes.”
“We cannot stand just waiting for the empire to fall,” he reflected.
Digital Warriors
The journalist and intellectual Atilio Borón, from the Network in Defense of Humanity in Argentina, raised the need to “become digital warriors”; otherwise, the task of coordinating and organizing social movements opposing imperialism worldwide will be almost impossible.
He said that a more active attitude is required and “we must believe that we can and should be producers of news. This is fundamental, because we are in a communication war and we have to be warriors, we cannot just be news consumers.”
Borón pointed out that in order to resist and reverse the situation, a common strategy must be developed, “which we must build and this forum is one of the fundamental spaces to build it.”
Vijay Prashad, director of the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research and representative of the International Assembly of Peoples, which brings together more than 200 political and popular movements from around the world, urged to believe in socialism because it is the only salvation for the planet and to create representation for people who are oppressed by international capital or multinational bourgeoisie, such as peasants.
“We have to be social in order to build something better than what we already have today,” he exhorted, while diagnosing that the global North has become hyperimperialist and an example, 75% of weapons are in the hands of NATO countries (North Atlantic Treaty Organization); and “that’s why they don’t want to build bridges (of dialogue, conciliation, peace), they only know how to destroy them.”
The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil, identified the two threats and challenges that social movements have faced for centuries; first, colonialism in its various forms and now neocolonialism, which is not only the cause of all the state of deterioration, disaster, and inequities, but today presents itself as a new even more powerful threat, with a greater hunger for plunder.
“Imperialism is the second major element. It is what motivated the emergence of the Bolivarian Revolution, which is anti-imperialist, anti-colonialist, an element that unites us and gives us a sense of struggle to all working classes in the world (peasants, students, workers),” he pointed out.
He emphasized that from Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chávez made the proposal for the construction of 21st Century Socialism as an alternative to confront these two great threats “that we have on the horizon, which are the origins of all the evils we suffer in our nations.”

Caracas, July 23, 2024 – “This Meeting for a World Social Alternative is an opportunity for us to go around the world building and demanding justice, in the economic, social, and communication fields.”
This is how the Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, began the 2nd Meeting for a World Social Alternative, from Bolívar to Chávez, which brought together social movements and guests from more than 60 countries at the Bolívar Theater of Caracas.
“We are in a moment of decline of imperialism, that is why we must get involved, those of us who believe in humanity, in Mother Earth, in justice, in equality,” he highlighted.
He expressed that this second meeting should serve to design proposals for debate on new technologies, artificial intelligence, among other means to spread the reality of the region.
Communication and resistance: the role of the media in current geopolitics
Telesur’s president, Patricia Villegas, opened the panel on the communication topic, stating that it is essential for the information sources in the region and the Alliance to work together and responsibly.
Villegas spoke about the media coverage of the presidential elections in Venezuela on July 28, emphasizing the need to work with reliable sources. She highlighted that “this election has a global and continental impact,” and called for real coordination between media outlets and networks.
Villegas stressed the importance of a new literacy in communication, stating that “our governments must work on this issue; the challenge is here. We have to learn how to read social networks, we have to learn how to interpret the content that is at our fingertips.”
She proposed ALBA-TCP to create “our own social networks” and develop new technological tools to strengthen regional communication.
Believe in resistance
On the other hand, Dyron Roque, member of the Secretariat of ALBA Movimientos, emphasized that talking about resistance “puts us on the right path” in the face of the intentions of the American empire and a certain type of hegemony.
He highlighted: “Resistance must occur in the face of force and consensus (of powers). The Cuban Revolution has been an example of resistance for breaking coercion and challenging the consensus of capitalism.”
Creating a new discourse
Vivian Fernandes, representative of Brasil de Fato, mentioned that communication should break with the concept of news as a commodity and combat the lies of the major media outlets linked to the global far right.
On the other hand, Fernandes called for creating a new discourse that allows us to counteract capitalism, as well as “building our own communication with aspects that unite us; and building news with the truth of what is happening in our countries.”
Similarly, Alan McLeod, editor of Mint Press (United States), warned that “there is a media war against Venezuela being waged in London, Washington, New York, and Madrid.”
He also warned that the media do not question power, but are power themselves, “they are the voice of the powerful. They are the spokespeople of the oligarchs.”
Venezuela and the presidential elections
Journalist William Castillo, leader of Venezuela NuestraInternational Campaign Team, stated that, in the case of the presidential elections in the Bolivarian country, communication is a priority and must be handled carefully, as it can be used to generate misinformation and fear among the population.
In his opinion, right-wing media outlets can be “generators of chaos,” which is why he urged to be alert from all informative spaces in the region.
Castillo concluded this presentation by stating that media outlets and television operators often come together during electoral processes to create false narratives that confuse citizens and provoke violent events.

Caracas, July 19, 2024.- Nicaragua has changed a lot over more than four decades. In 1979, the ravages of the liberation war against the Somoza dictatorship were huge. Today, the new Nicaragua appears, joyful and vibrant like any revolutionary process. Today, it has new actors who occupy the forefront positions of social transformation.
This Central American country with almost 7 million inhabitants has a large number of young people for whom the Sandinista popular insurrection is part of their historical memory. Now this youth by unanimous decree of the National Assembly approved the “Initiative of Law to Declare the Valiant and Valuable Youth of our Blessed Homeland” as: National Heritage of Nicaragua. In that sense, Sandinista deputy Carlos Emilio López affirmed that: “the same patriotic youth managed to sustain the Revolution and its great achievements in the first stage, such as the National Literacy Crusade, the transformations that occurred in health and agrarian reform.” But also, in that context, he pointed out that: “The youth led the defense of the Revolution against the aggressions of North American imperialism, this law recognizes the “Cubs” of Sandino who in the eighties defended our Revolution and the youth who during neoliberalism remained faithful to revolutionary principles.”
When the victory of the Sandinista People’sRevolution reached its 45th anniversary, as it happened on July 19, 1979, it may seem like a few years, but almost half a century has passed. However, the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN in Spanish) continues to be the historical vanguard of the Nicaraguan people. Its main historical leaders represented by Commander Daniel Ortega are constructively guiding the new course of 21st century Nicaragua.
The people of Augusto César Sandino have matured their revolutionary process. Nicaragua continues on the path of international solidarity at a time when the Palestinian people require the support of all peoples in order to stop the genocide in the Gaza Strip, perpetrated by Zionism led by Benjamin Netanyahu. Let us remember that the FSLN received Palestinian support and training at a time when international forces needed to be gathered to combat the bloody dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza.
In the context leading up to the popular takeover of power in Nicaragua, a large part of the political forces of the Latin American left provided political, economic, and logistical support to the Sandinista popular insurrection. Additionally, governments in the region at that time isolated the Somoza dictatorship and neutralized the White House intervention in the Central American country. Today, that period is part of Nicaragua’s history, but also of the peoples of our America.
In current times, once again solidarity with the Sandinista People’s Revolution is needed, as U.S. imperialism has not rested. It continues to be determined to reverse the emancipatory processes achieved in Cuba and Venezuela. Similarly, with the democratic advances made under popular governments in Brazil with Luiz Ignácio Lula da Silva, Xiomara Castro in Honduras, Andrés Manuel López Obrador in Mexico, Luis Arce Catacora in Bolivia, Gustavo Petro in Colombia, and recently with the government of Bernardo Arévalo in Guatemala, among others.
Without a doubt, the Sandinista People’s Revolution continues to be a beautiful lighthouse on the Latin American horizon. Today, Sandinismo has modernized Nicaragua and placed it in a context where education at its various levels remains a key strategy to confront the burdens of underdevelopment. The healthcare system has strengthened healthcare for the population, and the economy is much more stable and creative, providing a wide margin of well-being for the popular and rural sectors.
New times are approaching with the fluctuations in U.S. politics. The presidential candidacies in the empire of Joe Biden or Donald Trump shape the international scenario. But Nicaragua and Sandinismo, as they have done in other moments, will surely know how to positively face imperial challenges. The Sandinista People’s Revolution still has a long road ahead, and the children of Sandino know very well what he best route to emerge victorious once again is, as it happened on July 19, 1979 with the slogan: “Free Homeland or Death”.

Caracas, July 16, 2024.- In the context of the International Book Fair of Venezuela 2024 (Filven), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) presented the book “Global environmental crisis and the labyrinth of a system in decline. Challenges of unity movements in the face of the deterioration of life’s foundations”.
The text brings together the reflections of prominent thinkers and activists from Latin America and the Caribbean, who address the global environmental crisis from a critical and proactive perspective.
This work features contributions from Jorge Arreaza, Delcy Rodríguez, Sergio Rodríguez Gelfenstein, Francisco Herrera, and Daniel Lew from Venezuela; Ramón Grosfoguel from Puerto Rico; Juan Carlos Monedero from Spain; Nahuel Michalski and Atilio Borón from Argentina; Carlos Barrientos Aragón from Guatemala; João Pedro Stedile from Brazil; and Irene León from Ecuador.
The compilation arises from the participation of these authors in the Encounter for a Global Social Alternative, organized by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) in April 2024.
During the presentation of the mentioned book, Venezuelan ecologist Francisco Herrera said, “To talk about the future of the peoples of the global South is to talk about the planetary environmental crisis and, beyond that, about the crisis of a civilization that prioritizes ‘development’ over life itself.”
For Venezuelan biologist Francisco Herrera, the global environmental crisis is a problem of reproducing the essential conditions for human life; therefore, it is a topic that should be on the agenda of unity movements.
Herrera emphasized that proposing anti-systemic alternatives should mean thinking about the historical and cultural relationship we have had with non-human nature and reviewing what determinants have brought us to the crises we face today.
“As a result of modern capitalist civilization, we are facing a moment where food production and the reproduction of all life could be severely compromised,” warned Herrera.
On the other hand, Ecuadorian sociologist Irene León highlighted the relevance of this compilation of texts, which addresses essential concerns of our times. “The interest in this book arises from a time when every day, everywhere, we hear about the global ecological crises, the warming of the planet,” she pointed out.
León emphasized that current ecological problems demonstrate that humanity is in danger and that it is not possible to find answers within the logic that has led to the current crises. “The global environmental crisis calls into question the foundation of capitalism, which is the episteme of reproducing everything in function of capital; and invites us to think about how we can resume the axes of expanded reproduction of life,” she expressed.
The Ecuadorian sociologist also mentioned that the current crossroads reaffirm the need to transform reality, beyond just changing the symptoms. “Talking about the challenges of the peoples means taking into account a planetary environmental crisis, which doesn’t leave us much time anymore,” she warned.
In this sense, Irene León highlighted that ALBA-TCP is the only proposal for anti-systemic regional integration. “While in other continents, there is talk of economic integration (to compete in the global market), ALBA-TCP prioritizes the dispute over meanings, new horizons, and insists on debating real threats to humanity,” she explained.
“ALBA-TCP, as an original regional organization, addresses crucial issues such as the reproduction of life and ‘buen vivir’ at the heart of its project. There is a very important advance in our Latin American and Caribbean change project,” she affirmed.
The call from ALBA-TCP to think about a global social agenda from unity is, according to León, timely and necessary to combat the global environmental crisis. “The global environmental crisis calls us to joint action and deep reflection on the foundations of this civilizational system,” she concluded.

On Tuesday, July 16th, the People’s Power Ministry for Communes and Social Movements, together with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) and the Pueblos Institute for Original Thought, presented the book “El espíritu de la comuna y su golpe de timón. Líneas del pensamiento (des)colonial de Hugo Chávez para repensar la vida” (The spirit of the commune and its change of course. Lines of Hugo Chávez’ (de)colonial thought to rethink life”).
The event, which took place within the context of the International Book Fair of Venezuela 2024 (FILVEN), featured the participation of Mexican sociologist Karina Ochoa as the prologue writer; the compiler of the text, social communicator Nerliny Carucí; and the president of the Pueblos Institute for Original Thought, Luis Berrizbeitia.
During her participation, Karina Ochoa expressed that this “is a book that recovers part of the speeches that Hugo Chávez made over many years, but also records the personal transformation of a man who understood that the struggle could not only be about humanizing capitalism. Chávez understood that it was necessary to go further, and in 2012 it became very evident that the commitment to the commune would be the path to follow. It was the moment when Chávez understood, in decolonial terms, that the commitment was to the people, to ‘us’, and that we had to leave behind the egoic ‘I’ of modernity to become a collective ‘us’.”
In her speech, the decolonial teacher pointed out that “‘The spirit of the commune and its change of course’ is a book that invites us to change our way of thinking and leaves us with a reference point of radical Chávez and decolonial Chávez. An experience that must be read in Latin America.”
The text “‘The spirit of the commune and its change of course’ is a new child that Comandante Chávez gives us. It is the possibility to remember that this struggle continues and it is the opportunity to return to hope”, she pointed out.
Additionally, Nerliny Carucí, the compiler of the mentioned book, stated that “at this historical moment in which humanity is facing a planetary crisis, when the exhaustion of essential goods of life and the desperation of capitalism and its imperial model are overwhelmingly evident, the message of Chávez, especially mature Chávez, invites us to reflect on these tensions from a territorial perspective and from the organized and conscious people.”
The Venezuelan social communicator emphasized that “the words of mature Chávez have a profound reflection, as a result of his political practice and daily decolonial exercise, which can give us insights to redefine the horizon of resistance against a declining model.”
Carucí affirmed that “Chávez, this radical and decolonial Chávez, born out of his process of transformation in walking and thinking, proposes a communal political project that incorporates Mother Earth as a subject of another way of life.”
Nerliny Carucí emphasized that “in Chávez, the notion of territory is not an empty territory: it is a space that has culture, history, sovereignty, spirituality, and sustainability. Chávez sees territory as a living space that must ecologically work along with its communities. It is about the Pachamama, communal, truly human message; an unavoidable imperative to make the civilizational turn we need in the present.”
Meanwhile, Luis Berrizbeitia, the president of the Pueblos Institute for Original Thought, stated that “in the text ‘The spirit of the commune and its change of course,’ we find a good dose of the different dimensions of Commander Chávez’ thought. These dimensions are essential to understand the decolonial horizon in Venezuela and crucial topics such as territory, socialism, and community, which are essential elements to counteract the current civilizational model. In Chávez’ ideas lie the foundation for building a free homeland and developing the necessary Latin American revolution for these times.”
The book “The spirit of the commune and its change of course. Lines of Hugo Chávez’s (de)colonial thought to rethink life” consists of 340 pages and is divided into seven sections: an introduction; Portrait of the spirit of the commune; Decolonization as mediation between modern/capitalist mode of existence and communal way of life; Communal socialism; Communal socialism and the five battlefields against a declining civilization; Can we think about revolution from other logics? and the commitment of those who build community.

Caracas, July 14, 2024.- The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) raised its literary voice this Sunday at the International Book Fair of Venezuela, at the National Art Gallery in Caracas.
Jorge Arreaza presented three different books: “El desafío y el sentido histórico de la unidad” (The challenge and the historical meaning of unity- ALBA editions and Pueblos Institute); “Irreversibilidad… Como la luna llena. Crónica de la última proclama” (Irreversibility… Like the full moon. Chronicle of the last proclamation – Vadell publishers); and “La Alianza de Simón Bolívar” (The Alliance of Simón Bolívar – Vadell publishers). It is important to mention that the last two books were written by Arreaza.
Jorge Arreaza said that with the text The Challenge and the Historical Meaning of Unity, the regional bloc seeks to create content to support regional integration. “Each author who participated in this book, which was released in record time, a short pregnancy, but it was born with a lot of capacity to contribute, which is what we want to do from ALBA-TCP, create content to contribute to transformation and talk about the integration that we have been talking about for years.”
He emphasized that this text speaks of unity beyond the Alliance. “It is an advanced, anti-imperialist, decolonial proposal (…) This book is different from many points of view.”
On the other hand, Irene León, a sociologist and international political analyst from Ecuador, and one of the presenters of the book “The Challenge and the Historical Meaning of Unity,” asserted that unity is at the forefront of political debates and ALBA is the fundamental alternative for integration.
“Unity resurfaces as a priority. ALBA, conceived by Bolívar and Chávez, is an anti-systemic initiative, it is a proposal for integration within diversity”, she highlighted.

In a second moment, Jorge Arreaza presented his book “Irreversibility… Like the full moon. Chronicle of the last proclamation”, a work that describes his own experience with Commander Hugo Chávez, the most difficult days as leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, and how he suffered a serious illness.
In the pages of this book, Arreaza also recounts conversations with Commander Fidel Castro about Chávez’s health, complex medical treatments, among other topics. “That was very tough, it was December, we didn’t know if he would survive the operation, it was known that his life was at risk”, expressed Arreaza from the National Art Gallery.
Arreaza revealed that the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, asked him to write this story, “a testimony not from politics, but from the heart”.
Readers will be able to learn about everything Hugo Chávez experienced in Havana, Cuba, and later in Caracas, at the Military Hospital, in January 2013.
Regarding this story, Surirma Prieto, a community member from Bolívar state, commented on the text: “This book, I ask, should be in every heart of every Commune (…) I lived this book, I met Hugo Chávez thanks to Jorge Arreaza with this wonderful book.”
Meanwhile, the philosopher and director of the Pueblos Institute, Luis Berrizbeitia, shared that this book allows to build what Commander Hugo Chávez proposed for future generations. “Thank you, Jorge, for sitting down and writing it (…) And thank you very much, especially, to the Venezuelan people, to the community members, to all those who are in the spirit of this proclamation of Commander Hugo Chávez and that Jorge captures today”, he said.
The Alliance of Simón Bolívar
The FILVEN 2024 also hosted and was the setting for the baptism of the book “The Alliance of Simón Bolívar“, where Arreaza highlighted that this work was written using the method of the teacher Simón Rodríguez: “the school for everyone”.
He explained that this edition is written in a non-conventional way. Without periods in some paragraphs, messages with drawings, and the use of capital letters in a diverse and unexpected manner. “You will be able to see, from pages 52-53, that it is written in a non-traditional way, the Simón Rodríguez’ method”.
On the other hand, he said that “The Alliance of Simón Bolívar” also promotes unity as the only way for the defense and projection of the region against the onslaught of capitalism and American imperialism.
Nelson Chávez, a researcher at the Samuel Robinson Institute for Original Thought, stated that in this book, the author’s attempt, his proposal is to try to make Simón Bolívar’s alliance speech “touch the heart of every reader”.
He emphasized that, “the Liberator will always need to be defended (…) The author brings us a new Liberator, a liberator who did not exist or who was getting shape in the songs with justice, with freedom, with greatness, with the beauty of the Liberator that had been hidden from us for 200 years.”
Similarly, Valentina Vadell, editor of Vadell Publishers, indicated that this second edition of the book “is to highlight the work done by Jorge Arreaza and democratize it so that everyone can have it.”
“Without a doubt, this book is inspired by Simón Rodríguez, and in which we all feel part of, which is Our America, that American union that the Liberator Simón Bolívar spoke so much about,” Vadell referred to when presenting this work, which she described as a historical manifesto.

Caracas, July 10, 2024.- The President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Luis Arce, participated in the 10th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) held via videoconference, where he updated the Heads of State and Government of the other nine member countries on the events following the attempted coup on June 26th.
Arce highlighted the importance of recovering democratic values and rejecting any attempt to divide the Andean country.
The President emphasized that those who promote a military coup have interests that are not aligned with those of the Bolivian people, seeking to establish a fascist government in the region.
In this sense, he thanked the solidarity of the presidents and prime ministers of ALBA-TCP and invited them to support the bloc’s declaration in favor of democracy and against any threat of destabilization.
He called for unity within ALBA-TCP to maintain peace in Latin America, emphasizing that peace and social justice must prevail over imperialist and fascist interests.
Arce concluded by stating that only through unity and resistance of the peoples, a better future can be guaranteed.

The statement corresponds to the Head of State and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, who reaffirmed his support for the Government of Bolivia and its President Luis Arce during his participation in the 10th Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).
“To my brothers and sisters of the ALBA-TCP, the full support of the Venezuelan people. Bolivia has set an example of responsiveness”, he expressed.
The president, in his speech via video conference, emphasized the attempted coup in Bolivia, confirming the ongoing conspiracy against autonomous processes in the region.
In this scenario, he highlighted that the path to the right to peace, stability, and development is strengthened. He also recalled that the Venezuelan right-wing came out to praise the coup in Bolivia.
He also reiterated that “from Venezuela, we are proud of the people of Bolivia, of their courage, their power, and their strength”.
In this context, the ALBA-TCP announced on Wednesday morning an extraordinary virtual meeting of Heads of State and Government, stating through its social media account X that the dignitaries are meeting to denounce the attempted coup in Bolivia – which occurred on June 26 – and reaffirm support for President Luis Arce’s government.
