President Maduro: ALBA-TCP is a reference for the struggling peoples

Caracas, April 19, 2024.- The time for the ALBA social movements, with a very broad vision, to coordinate a new world social alternative against capitalism, against fascism, for a human civilization of peace and love has come”, said the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, during his participation this Friday in the Gathering for a World Social Alternative.

He said that the new alternative must be one focused on life and hope, on a multipolar world based on the peoples, “because only the aware, mobilized, organized and empowered peoples will be able to build the new world; this is not a matter for the elites”.

The international meeting, which brings together in Caracas close to 300 delegates from movements of 60 countries from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, is organized by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) and the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples (ISB).

In his opinion, the world is going through a new transition period, a new era and “we have to be at the forefront, if we stick to the old rhetoric, to the old slogans, to the old ways of politics, they will walk all over us”.

In this sense, he urged the movements and leaders gathered to build the new world social alternative for the new transition era, and from Venezuela “we say new era of transition to socialism, a new civilization, the civilization of love, solidarity, equality, life (…) the humanity to come will be better, much better. Hopefully, we can reverse climate change, mitigate it”.

During his speech, the Head of State expressed his trust that the great scientific-technological development will allow freeing the planet from global warming and the destruction it has entered, and that the mitigation and prevention measures can, at some point, be combined with measures to heal the 200 years of damage caused to the planet by capitalism. “I believe in that. I am confident, I have hope,” he said.

Permanent mobilization

President Maduro stated that the revolutionary movements in power must be in permanent mobilization, “it is one of the keys of the Bolivarian Revolution, active people, mobilized people regardless of the circumstances (…) it is a very wise line to take, the popular movements in the struggle against neoliberalism and the emerging fascism”.

The Venezuelan President assured, in his speech, that Zionism is behind the extreme right in his country, behind the Machado and Capriles surnames, “all of them came out to applaud the genocide against the Palestinian people, all of them came out to applaud the assault and bombing with missiles of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, all of them, Machado, Lopez, Capriles, the surnames here”.

“Zionism is the leading force of fascism in the world and is getting into Latin America. Be alert! What I can tell you is this: in Venezuela they will not succeed, this people will prevail against fascism and the Zionism of the surnames, the oligarchy” he affirmed.

ALBA-TCP as a moral reference

President Maduro recalled that next December will be the 30th anniversary of the first meeting between Commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, in 1994; and “on December 14 we will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America, today the Bolivarian Alliance”.

He stressed that today ALBA-TCP is being consolidated, it is a moral, political and ideological reference; it is a reference for the struggling and dreaming peoples. “Africa is already rising again in its struggle against European colonialism. Asia is becoming an alternative. Our America struggles to maintain its free spaces and to liberate new ones”.

Along his speech, the President affirmed that “Colombia and Venezuela have a common destiny, union, cooperation and shared development of this vast region liberated by the sword of Bolivar”; “sooner we will conquer freedom and sovereignty and re-found the free Republic of Haiti”; “the struggle for Palestine is the struggle for justice and the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ” and the “people of the United States will be one of the great stars of the changes coming for the world in the future years”.

Arreaza: ALBA-TCP is here for the peoples to coordinate, strengthen and change the world

Caracas, April 20, 2024.- In an interview to media of social movements from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and other countries, the executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, assessed the Gathering for a World Social Alternative, which closed this Saturday in Caracas, in view of the difficult circumstances the world is going through.

He emphasized that there was a need in the environment for us to “come together”, for an ideological embrace in order to have the great debates, as happened at the meeting; to share reflections, hypotheses, routes for concrete action.

The diplomat stressed that ALBA-TCP is here for the peoples to coordinate, strengthen and change the world, and “the only way is to look at each other face to face, feel the energy we share and cleanse our thoughts and souls in order to take action”.

He described the contributions gathered during the three-day event as very appropriate, pertinent and they will allow us to progress along a concrete path, together, leaving behind any differences, any situation of polarization, which “nowadays is a mortal sin”.

Elections in Venezuela

Regarding the popular referendum to be held this Sunday in Venezuela aimed at prioritizing community projects, Arreaza explained that the Bolivarian nation has been strengthening the People’s Power, which is the core of forces in a territory, in the community, coinciding with President Nicolás Maduro Moros regarding that one of the great contributions of Commander Hugo Chávez, is to put socialism into practice throughout the territory.

In this sense, he further stated that this contribution of the revolutionary leader is translated into the Communal Councils and Communes, which in their territory are considered the first level of government; “the people are the ones who determine the agenda of the President in revolution”.

The ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary, when asked about the importance of the presidential election to be held on July 28 in his native Venezuela, stated that it is crucial. ” The future as a country, as an identity, is at stake”.

He explained that the Venezuelan people will choose between “Homeland or colony”, stressing that since 1998 ” the existence of the Homeland and the Republic is at stake” and that Chávez, upon winning the elections in that year, reverted an almost unstoppable tendency to become a neo-colony, whose attempts have not ceased during these years through 930 unilateral coercive measures, invasion threats, failed assassinations; all of which have slowed down the pace of the revolution, but the people have endured it.

Arreaza affirmed that in Venezuela, Chavismo has been able to maintain its single-minded unity, its strategic project, making tactical concessions, when necessary, but maintaining the strategic rhythm of the project, while the opposition is still insisting on “surrendering the Homeland to the Americans and this formula will never work for them”.

The ALBA-TCP spokesman also guaranteed the reliability of the Venezuelan electoral system, which he defined as extremely transparent, automatic, auditable before and after the process: “There is no possibility of fraud”.

Minister Guy Vernáez highlighted that the national vote constitutes a “possibility to give the world a different view of what people outside see” about Venezuela. He said that tomorrow’s event is not only an election, “it is much more, it is a milestone that breaks all previous processes, it goes beyond that path”.

He affirmed that the organization process has been very simple, due to the training that Chávez transmitted to the communal organizations, while he assigned to watchers the task of understanding, through their participation in the elections, the meaning of the People’s Power and the communal leadership.

Representative Blanca Eeckhout recalled that Chávez said that every need must become a movement, every movement must become an organization and this must become a power to change reality. She also addressed the Tree of the Three Roots (Simón Bolívar, Simón Rodríguez and Ezequiel Zamora), which Chávez turned into a political, pedagogical action, of permanent consciousness transformation.

“Tomorrow we will see the systematization of a permanent work of resistance (…) it is not only choosing the project, this has been the work of years of men and women who have not given up despite adversity,” he stressed.

Orlando Tardencilla, from Nicaragua, urged the participants to be united and politically clear, because “imperialism does not sleep and does not have one eye closed and the other open, it has both eyes open (…) we must keep our eyes open, strengthening the people’s power, listening with a self-critical ear, but above all, being aware of the opportunity to progress”.

This April 18, 19 and 20 Caracas is the venue for the Gathering for a World Social Alternative, an opportunity to promote unity and the design of an agenda to protect the Latin American and Caribbean regions against the imperial attacks of this new time.

ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary calls on social movements to engage in permanent communication

La Guaira, April 16, 2024.- As part of the World Gathering for a Social Alternative, to be held in Caracas on April 18 and 19, there was a meeting with social movements in La Guaira state, in the Venezuelan central-north coast, where the Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, raised the need to “create this opportunity to listen to each other, to develop a method of permanent interaction between the ALBA governments and the peoples”.

During his speech, the Diplomat highlighted that the world is going through a very dangerous moment, defined as hyper-imperialism which implies the decline of a model, a process difficult to predict, so “it is time to gather (…) as peoples we have the historical duty to put aside our differences and groups and agree on everything we can”.

Arreaza urged to start with a minimum common agenda, a coordinated agenda of the movements and peoples of the world. “This moment forces us, compels us to get the peoples organized and assume the corresponding role at the forefront of the processes,” the Executive Secretary stressed.

During the meeting, Llanisca Lugo, member of the Martin Luther King Center, agreed that this is a historic moment for the movements to strengthen themselves in order to create a common agenda with concrete proposals.

Irene León, a Ecuadorian political analyst, stated that ALBA-TCP should be an “axis for the joint coordination of all our peoples regardless of the countries”, while highlighting the role of Commander Hugo Chávez as a promoter of Latin American integration, not only of the Alliance, but also of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which emerged with their own particularities in response to the great challenge of building a multipolar and pluricentric world.

He explained that all integration organizations in the world focus, at their core, on uniting to achieve greater competitiveness, to capitalize, which is why ALBA-TCP is unique, because since its creation it has been proposed as an anti-capitalist alternative, it has the capacity to propose something different from the free trade of the capitalist model, such as the People’s Trade Treaty.

León added that the regional bloc, made up of 10 countries, proposes values contrary to competition, such as solidarity, economic complementarity and reciprocity.

He urged work on a financial structure and a regional financial institution as a condition for the implementation of an alternative model, far from capitalist speculation, that meets the socioeconomic needs of the region.

Arreaza: Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy is our path to prevent wars and conflicts among nations

Caracas, April 15, 2024.- The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, stated via his account on X, that the regional bloc embraces Bolivarian Diplomacy, promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez and President Nicolás Maduro Moros, as the method to achieve and foster world peace.

“Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy is our path and our proposal to prevent and tackle wars and conflicts among nations,” he said.

Arreaza recalled, “In 2018, under the Venezuelan Chairmanship, the Non-Aligned Movement proposed at the UN to establish April 24 as Multilateralism and Peace Diplomacy Day, an initiative approved by the UN General Assembly, accepting this concept as a contribution and method to ensure global stability and security”.

According to the Secretary, today more than ever, the international system must commit to dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law and the rights of peoples, addressing the structural and original causes of potential or ongoing wars and conflicts without fear or pressure.

“As Mahatma Gandhi told us: there is no way to peace, peace is the way,” he closed.

In this regard, the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace is celebrated in April. This was established by the United Nations in 2018, with the aim of promoting understanding and cessation of conflicts among nations.

In Venezuela, Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy has made significant progress. The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted in January 2024 that the South American nation achieved great victories through this method in 2023.

“We managed to consolidate the geopolitical vision of the Great Homeland and break the international isolation that imperialism had subjected Venezuela to, although they were never able to isolate us totally, they did a lot of damage”, the Head of State said on that occasion.
