Caracas, May 18, 2024 (Mincomunas Press).- Last Saturday, spokespeople from eight Communal Councils belonging to Commander Hugo Chávez Commune, located in Santa Rosalía parish, Libertador municipality, participated in a territorial assembly of social movements to contribute to the Venezuelan popular movement to the 2030 Agenda of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), and to the World Social Alternative.

The meeting was led by the coordinator of Social Movements of the ALBA-TCP Executive Secretariat, Rubén Pereira, and the Vice Minister of Social Movements, Fernando Rodríguez, who highlighted the importance of creating a space for interaction between social movements and popular organizations to generate debates, agreements, and contributions.

He affirmed that despite the fact that Venezuela has been harassed by the United States government, it has never stopped fighting and seeking a way out of all these aggressions and sanctions. “For this, we have relied on the organization of people’s power and community-based government that has demonstrated its strength in defending our homeland.

On the other hand, Professor Pereira presented a lecture about the mission, vision, and achievements of the ALBA-TCP; he also explained that the regional integration organization was born on December 14, 2004, when it was founded by Commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, with the aim of promoting Latin America and the Caribbean integration and unity.

Achievements

Pereira provided a brief overview of the achievements reached by ALBA-TCP in its 19 years of existence, starting with the declaration of territories free of illiteracy, the creation of Misión Milagro (Eye care Social Mission), as well as the psychosocial genetic clinical study of people with disabilities and the training of high school graduates as community doctors.

According to the coordinator of Social Movements, Commander Chávez holds great importance for the region because he dedicated himself to strengthening existing integration mechanisms and processes and establishing new ones.

The community members recognized the importance of the activity as it allows them to socialize and delve into the social policies that the Bolivarian Government guarantees to support and assist communities.

Arreaza: ALBA-TCP is here for the peoples to coordinate, strengthen and change the world

Caracas, April 20, 2024.- In an interview to media of social movements from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and other countries, the executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, assessed the Gathering for a World Social Alternative, which closed this Saturday in Caracas, in view of the difficult circumstances the world is going through.

He emphasized that there was a need in the environment for us to “come together”, for an ideological embrace in order to have the great debates, as happened at the meeting; to share reflections, hypotheses, routes for concrete action.

The diplomat stressed that ALBA-TCP is here for the peoples to coordinate, strengthen and change the world, and “the only way is to look at each other face to face, feel the energy we share and cleanse our thoughts and souls in order to take action”.

He described the contributions gathered during the three-day event as very appropriate, pertinent and they will allow us to progress along a concrete path, together, leaving behind any differences, any situation of polarization, which “nowadays is a mortal sin”.

Elections in Venezuela

Regarding the popular referendum to be held this Sunday in Venezuela aimed at prioritizing community projects, Arreaza explained that the Bolivarian nation has been strengthening the People’s Power, which is the core of forces in a territory, in the community, coinciding with President Nicolás Maduro Moros regarding that one of the great contributions of Commander Hugo Chávez, is to put socialism into practice throughout the territory.

In this sense, he further stated that this contribution of the revolutionary leader is translated into the Communal Councils and Communes, which in their territory are considered the first level of government; “the people are the ones who determine the agenda of the President in revolution”.

The ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary, when asked about the importance of the presidential election to be held on July 28 in his native Venezuela, stated that it is crucial. ” The future as a country, as an identity, is at stake”.

He explained that the Venezuelan people will choose between “Homeland or colony”, stressing that since 1998 ” the existence of the Homeland and the Republic is at stake” and that Chávez, upon winning the elections in that year, reverted an almost unstoppable tendency to become a neo-colony, whose attempts have not ceased during these years through 930 unilateral coercive measures, invasion threats, failed assassinations; all of which have slowed down the pace of the revolution, but the people have endured it.

Arreaza affirmed that in Venezuela, Chavismo has been able to maintain its single-minded unity, its strategic project, making tactical concessions, when necessary, but maintaining the strategic rhythm of the project, while the opposition is still insisting on “surrendering the Homeland to the Americans and this formula will never work for them”.

The ALBA-TCP spokesman also guaranteed the reliability of the Venezuelan electoral system, which he defined as extremely transparent, automatic, auditable before and after the process: “There is no possibility of fraud”.

The diplomat referred to the Concrete Action Agenda (ACA in Spanish) of the Communal Councils, which describes the critical issues or needs identified by the communities, with a proposed solution or project that takes into account the potential of the territory.

Minister Guy Vernáez highlighted that the national vote constitutes a “possibility to give the world a different view of what people outside see” about Venezuela. He said that tomorrow’s event is not only an election, “it is much more, it is a milestone that breaks all previous processes, it goes beyond that path”.

He affirmed that the organization process has been very simple, due to the training that Chávez transmitted to the communal organizations, while he assigned to watchers the task of understanding, through their participation in the elections, the meaning of the People’s Power and the communal leadership.

Representative Blanca Eeckhout recalled that Chávez said that every need must become a movement, every movement must become an organization and this must become a power to change reality. She also addressed the Tree of the Three Roots (Simón Bolívar, Simón Rodríguez and Ezequiel Zamora), which Chávez turned into a political, pedagogical action, of permanent consciousness transformation.

“Tomorrow we will see the systematization of a permanent work of resistance (…) it is not only choosing the project, this has been the work of years of men and women who have not given up despite adversity,” he stressed.
