Caracas, July 10, 2024.- During the 10th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held virtually this Wednesday, the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed his strong support for Bolivian President Luis Arce, following the coup attempt orchestrated two weeks ago by a group of insurgent military personnel with economic interests in the nation and belonging to imperialism.
The Head of State strongly condemned this and all events that threaten democratic stability in Latin America.
During his speech, Díaz-Canel emphasized the importance of defending legitimate constitutional order and recalled the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved 10 years ago at the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Havana.

He also emphasized the urgent need for unity and solidarity to confront the far-right and its advance on the continent, which, according to his words, seeks to destabilize governments of popular supportthrough manipulation and deceit.
He also warned that the rise to power of these figures will bring periods of repression, persecution of social leaders, implementation of neoliberal policies, and the surrender of natural resources, as has happened in other historical times.
In this sense, the Cuban President rejected any form of intervention in the internal affairs of the sovereign States of the bloc. He also urged support for progressive governments that are being attacked by oligarchies.
