Jorge Arreaza: no ALBA-TCP country will tolerate U.S. tutelage

Caracas, May 4, 2024.- The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) has a firm and solidary position in relation to the sovereignty of each State, said the Executive Secretary of the bloc, Jorge Arreaza, on Friday.

“No ALBA country will tolerate the tutelage of the United States”, said the Venezuelan internationalist during an interview on the TV program called A Pulso, hosted by journalist Julio Riobó, on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

In his opinion, dialogue is the motto of Venezuela and of all ALBA member countries. “We are a zone of peace (…) we have a permanent dialogue with the Caribbean”.

Likewise, Arreaza stated that the ten ALBA-TCP countries support dialogue and peace as a tool for resolving differences.

“We, ALBA, have been the most affected, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua. They (the United States) bet that this would dissolve (…) we are Bolivar’s children (…) ALBA is resilient and resistant”, he stressed.

Communication and economic independence

The Executive Secretary explained that the 2030 ALBA-TCP Agenda has five horizons to be consolidated, which include economic, political, social, cultural and communicational aspects.

According to him, the Bolivarian Alliance can connect its media through the peoples, in order to build a kind of armor against the media hegemony of U.S. imperialism.

In addition, Arreaza highlighted that the Alliance’s Council of Social Movements will soon be activated, “and communication has a strategic and fundamental role”.

“The Council of Social Movements is a challenge, but we do not want to impose a work agenda on them, we want them to create their own methods (…) in December of this year, at the ALBA-TCP Summit in Havana, we hope to have this method”, he said.

“It is about designing a common agenda of the peoples to make wise decisions in order to protect our nations,” Arreaza expressed.

Regarding alternative currencies, he added that the Alliance is studying the use of other currencies in order to put aside the dollar. “The most important challenge of ALBA-TCP is the economic one, to be able to become independent”, he affirmed during the interview.

“The economic independence of ALBA-TCP is one of the fundamental tasks for the happiness of the peoples who make up the bloc and who are its driving force”.

Regarding culture, he announced that a drum festival will soon be held in the region, details will be provided in due course.

ALBA-TCP against genocide

Arreaza affirmed that peoples are understanding what the right wing is and the seriousness of fascism, such as what is happening from Israel against Palestine.

“This genocide, which is sponsored by the United States, is unacceptable,” he added, while stressing that the regional bloc is taking a stand at all times and immediately against the crimes in Gaza. “ALBA pronounces itself against any injustice in the world,” he concluded.
