The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty expresses its strongest position condemning the kidnapping of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab by the United States of America, which occurred on October 16th, 2021.
It represents a violation of international law. It is an illegal procedure that violates the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and sets a negative precedent for diplomatic law.
Likewise, the Alliance calls for respect for the life and physical integrity of Alex Saab, who is also a permanent representative of the Venezuelan Government at the Dialogue Roundtable being held in Mexico.
The ALBA-TCP countries reaffirm their support for the Venezuelan government and people in all steps taken as a sovereign nation to safeguard and protect the human rights of its nationals.
