The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) denounce the arbitrary blockade of the payment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to purchase COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX mechanism by the Swiss UBS Bank.

This illegal action is a consequence of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the government of the United States and its effects on the financial sector are an attempt against the welfare, health, security and right to life of the people, with the purpose of seeking a change of regime and the overthrow of governments constitutionally, legally and legitimately elected by will and in the exercise of their self-determination.

The Alliance repudiates the perpetuation of unilateral coercive measures against the people and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and stresses the imperative of full respect for all human rights, especially the right to life and health.

ALBA-TCP demands the immediate lifting of unilateral coercive measures that impede affected countries from effectively fighting COVID-19.
