ALBA-TCP rejects sanctions imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on Nicaragua’s Attorney General

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) express our strongest rejection of the recent imposition of sanctions by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on the Attorney General of the Republic of Nicaragua, Wendy Carolina Morales Urbina.

This new arbitrary and interfering decision against the Attorney General is an aggression against the sovereignty of that country, clearly violating the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, and only seeks to disturb the political and social stability of the sister nation of Nicaragua.

ALBA-TCP demands respect for the right of each sovereign State to govern its internal affairs, without foreign intervention that undermines its autonomy and self-determination.

The Alliance reiterates its call to the international community to denounce this kind of aggressions that violate the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and reaffirms its solidarity with the people and the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua.
