ALBA-TCP rejects the removal of Telesur signal from the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) channel lineup

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) reject the Argentine government’s decision to remove Telesur signal from the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) channel lineup.

This action is an attack against the voice of the peoples of the world and undermines the right to inform and be informed. This decision illustrates the double standards of the Argentine government, who rhetorically boasts about the importance of freedom, while at the same time, he curtails the freedom of expression of millions of his own people.

Televisora del Sur (Telesur) was created as an alternative instrument to promote the dissemination of the realities of the peoples of the South in their processes of integration and shared development. Over the years, Telesur has become one of the most respected and widely used sources of information in the American continent and the entire world.

ALBA-TCP regrets this type of behavior and hopes that, sooner rather than later, the signal of this media, so important for the union and truth of the peoples of Our Latin America and the Caribbean, will be restored.
