Alba-tcp expresses its solidarity with Eastern Caribbean countries following the passage of hurricane Beryl

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) express their unconditional solidarity with the Caribbean countries, members and non-members of this Alliance, in the face of the devastating passage of Hurricane Beryl.

ALBA-TCP joins the efforts of all the governments of the Caribbean countries to attend to and to recover after the damage caused by hurricane Beryl, which increased its strength to category 4 within a few hours, leaving destruction and desolation in its wake.

The unexpected evolution of Hurricane Beryl is an example of the severe effects of the climate crisis and the need to work together to mitigate its consequences and provide a quick response to the affected peoples. In this regard, the creation of the ALBA-TCP Risk Prevention and Management Agency, whose creation was approved by the Heads of State and Government at the 23rd Summit held on April 24, in Caracas, is particularly relevant.

ALBA-TCP deeply regrets this circumstance; the human and material losses resulting from it and reiterates its readiness to provide assistance to the affected families and to collaborate in the restoration of daily life in the Caribbean countries.
