ALBA-TCP condems destruction of venezuelan aircraft hijacked by the United States of America

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) condemn the unjustifiable destruction of the Boeing 747 aircraft owned by Empresa de Transporte Aerocargo del Sur (EMTRASUR), a subsidiary of the Venezuelan airline Conviasa, by the United States authorities.

The Bolivarian Alliance has repeatedly rejected the hijacking of the Venezuelan aircraft as a form of assault in flagrant violation of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the Charter of the United Nations and the most basic rules of international law, from its illegal and illegitimate order of seizure by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2022, its subsequent hijacking in Argentina, its theft by the United States last February 12, to the unusual physical destruction of the aircraft in recent days.

ALBA-TCP denounces this repeated aggression as another of the countless consequences of the criminal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. government, which threaten the sovereignty and assets of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Bolivarian Alliance supports the demands of the people and the Government of Venezuela to reject this new attack, and at the same time supports the legal, diplomatic, and political measures taken by Venezuelan authorities.
