STATEMENT

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) categorically condemns the attempted coup d’état by military forces commanded by Army General Juan José Zuñiga being staged from Murillo Square in La Paz, Bolivia.

Likewise, ALBA-TCP repudiates this irregular insurrection, most probably guided by the same interests that led the fascist coup in 2019, in which the population is being attacked in the area of Miraflores, threatening the life and security of the Bolivian people to enter the Government Palace with tanks and military personnel, break with the democratic order and forcibly impose a new government cabinet.

The Bolivarian Alliance reiterates its unconditional support to the Constitutional President, elected by the people of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Luis ArceCatacora, and calls on the international community to defend democracy, peace and respect for the Political Constitution of Bolivia.

The ALBA-TCP member countries will attend the call of the President of the Republic of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, in her capacity as President Protémpore of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to raise their voices in defense of brotherPresident Arce, former President Evo Morales and the sovereignty of the Bolivian people, a fundamental part of ALBA-TCP.
