The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) congratulate the brave people and government of the Republic of Nicaragua on the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Revolution.

On July 19, 1979, the wise Nicaraguan people, with the organization of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, paved the way to freedom and put an end to over 40 years of the dictatorial and traitorous regime of the Somoza family, supported by the United States.

It has been 45 years since the Sandinista National Liberation Front raised the clamor of the men and women of the Nicaraguan homeland, decided to break the chains that had plunged the nation into a series of inequalities and led this sister country along the path of the anti-imperialist struggle for social justice. 

The ALBA-TCP member countries join the celebration of the Nicaraguan people and government on this special day in the history of Latin America. Thanks to the libertarian struggle started by Augusto César Sandino, his ideals of sovereignty and independence awakened the dreams of freedom of the Nicaraguan people, today led by Comrade President Daniel Ortega Saavedra.
