ALBA-TCP welcomes Cuba’s removal from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism

ALBA-TCP

The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) welcome the removal of Cuba from the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism, where it should never have been, as well as the elimination of two other unilateral coercive measures by the U.S. government on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Despite its limited nature, the Bolivarian Alliance welcomes this decision, which moves in the right direction and is in line with the sustained and determined demand of Cuba and numerous international actors, while favoring the Cuban nation in its sovereign path of development. The Cuban Revolution has demonstrated its firm commitment to the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations; therefore, incorporating and maintaining Cuba on the aforementioned list has always been an arbitrary and politically motivated decision of the U.S. government, as an additional tool to deepen the illegal economic blockade against the Island.

The ALBA-TCP countries celebrate this victorious step and hope that this will be the first one towards the total lifting of the genocidal and illegal policy of economic warfare against Cuba that has caused over six decades of unjustified suffering and pain to the Cuban people.
