The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of journalist Anas Jamal al-Sharif and four of his colleagues, in an attack perpetrated by Israel against a clearly identified tent set up by Al Jazeera media in front of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, including a sixth reporter from the Palestinian media Sahat.
In Palestine, a planned and ongoing genocide is taking place, the most brutal expression of human horror and wickedness, a contemporary example of neo-Nazi and neo-fascist practices. The premeditated murder of journalists like Anas and his colleagues is not collateral damage: it is a deliberate policy of forced silencing that, since October 2023, has claimed the lives of 238 journalists, with the aim of preventing the world from hearing about the magnitude of the crimes committed by the Occupying Power.
ALBA-TCP denounces that the Zionist State of Israel has turned the Gaza Strip into a laboratory for crimes against humanity, systematically violating International Humanitarian Law and the Charter of the United Nations. Those who murder the Palestinian people and perpetrate a policy of extermination against those who are recording their suffering are war criminals and perpetrators of genocide.
The physical loss of Anas Jamal al-Sharif is a moral and political call to not remain silent. ALBA-TCP reaffirms its unwavering and irrevocable commitment to the Palestinian cause and demands an immediate end to the genocide, the complete removal of the siege, and the end of the occupation, until Palestine is free, sovereign, and at peace.
