ALBA-TCP statement on the agreement of the National Dialogue Board in Venezuela

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) based on its deep vocation for peace and respect for International Law; guided by the principle of sovereign equality of States, justice and solidarity, welcomes the signing of the “Agreement of the National Dialogue Table” between the government and the Venezuelan opposition held on Monday, September 16th, 2019.

The ALBA-TCP countries opposed to interventionism and war, in favor of the preservation and re-establishment of peace and self-determination of peoples, emphasize that this Agreement is made on the basis of respect for the principles established in the United Nations Charter and the fulfillment of guaranteeing our region as a Zone of Peace.

The search for peace is a lesson in democracy and civility that develops in spite of international pressure and threats to Venezuela from the enemies of progressive governments. The Venezuelan brothers once again opt for the path of peace and dialogue without foreign interference.

The Free Peoples of Our America and of ALBA-TCP will always accompany any initiative aimed at achieving peace, such as the Montevideo Mechanism established by Mexico, Uruguay, CARICOM and Bolivia, aimed at addressing the situation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, based on the principles of non-intervention in the internal affairs of countries, the legal equality of States, the peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for human rights and the self-determination of peoples.
