ALBA-TCP rejects U.S. government decision to reimpose sanctions on Venezuela

ALBA-TCP

The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) categorically reject the arbitrary decision of the Government of the United States to revoke the license that eases operations in Venezuela in the oil and gas sector.

This action makes evident, once again, the attitude of the U.S. government in attempting to discretionally use the spurious oil licenses with the aim of extorting the Venezuelan government, seeking to influence the sovereign actions and decisions of that country, based on the manipulation of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against Venezuela, which, clearly, constitute a flagrant violation of International Law.

In this regard, the Alliance recognizes the efforts of all parties involved in the Venezuelan elections to fulfill the commitments made in the Barbados Agreement, signed between the government delegation and the opposition, “(…) by choosing its candidate for the presidential elections in a free manner and according to its internal mechanisms, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the law.”

The ALBA-TCP member countries demand respect for the people and government of Venezuela, reject the interference of the United States in its internal affairs and demand the lifting of the criminal, illegal and unfair unilateral coercive measures that harm the Venezuelan people.
