ALBA-TCP rejects new aggressions against Nicaragua

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) reject the press release issued by the U.S. Department of State on March 9, 2022, against nine high-ranking Nicaraguan officials made under the spurious measures such as the United States–Northern Triangle Enhanced Engagement Act, known as the “Engel List” and the Reinforcing Nicaragua’s Adherence to Conditions for Electoral Reform (RENACER) Act.

In addition to several unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States of America against the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua, this action is part of a smear campaign aimed at harming the Government and its people, within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This type of aggressions violates the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and for this reason, the Alliance reiterates the call to the International Community to denounce such attacks and reaffirms its solidarity with the people and the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua, President Daniel Ortega Saavedra and the Vice President, Rosario Murillo.
