ALBA-TCP takes note of the statement issued by the Government of the Dominican Republic, which highlights its decision to subordinate the organization of the Summit following instructions from Washington. This act is a public admission of political capitulation which degrades the status of the host.
For the free, sovereign, and independent peoples, non-participation in a space that is now clearly controlled by imperial interests is a distinction that confirms that our independence and sovereignty place us in a different dimension, proper to free peoples, marked by dignity and alien to scenarios designed for obedience and submission.
The history of Latin America and the Caribbean is characterized by both attempts at domination and acts of liberation. Recent events confirm that the so-called Summit of the Americas will remain recorded as one of those fruitless moments, doomed from the outset.
