ALBA-TCP applauds Cuba and Bolivia’s joining the BRICS as partner countries

ALBA-TCP

The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) applaud with satisfaction the sisters and brothers of the Republic of Cuba and the Plurinational State of Bolivia for joining the BRICS bloc as partners, which represents an important step towards a multipolar world.

For the Bolivarian Alliance, it is a source of joy to know that two member countries are part of a platform that is emerging with increasing strength to work on strengthening multilateralism for a more democratic world order; deepening cooperation for global stability and security; expanding financial and economic cooperation for equitable development; promoting exchange for the socioeconomic progress of the world and consolidating a more just, humane and supportive world.

These purposes are in line with the principles, priorities and strategic goals with which the Bolivarian Alliance was born twenty years ago, resulting from the efforts of Commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro and the dreams of the independence heroes of Latin America and the Caribbean, who envisioned the future that would shape the new emerging world order, based on the promotion of peace, cooperation and solidarity, and on respect for the principles of International Law for relations between States.

Today, Cuba and Bolivia ratify, once again, the will towards the construction of a new world order, which is urgently needed for the survival of humanity itself.

Likewise, the Bolivarian Alliance deplores that, at this crucial moment for the future of the world, one country has broken the consensus in this space of cooperation to exclude brotherly countries, preventing, for now, the joining of Venezuela. ALBA-TCP, convinced of the need to overcome exclusions, will continue to promote the inclusion of the Venezuelan nation, which has the necessary material conditions to promote the BRICS in the region and the historical values that have fostered solidarity, cooperation and a new multilateralism of a new kind.

The ALBA-TCP Member States applaud the Cuban and Bolivian peoples and governments for this goal achieved, convinced that they will be able to convey to the BRICS the solidarity, popular, diverse, complementary and cooperative essence of our Bolivarian Alliance. At the same time, we demand the cessation of aggression against Venezuela and respect for its sovereign right to be part of the new pluripolar world in consolidation.
