The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) expresses its deep concern over the events that have taken place in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, which evidence the beginning of a process of judicialization of politics against former President Luis Arce Catacora.

ALBA warns that these actions follow patterns already seen in the region, characterized by the manipulation of the judicial system for political persecution, in open violation of the rule of law, popular sovereignty, and democratic coexistence. Such practices, associated with lawfare, have been used systematically to delegitimize, neutralize, and persecute popular leaders and political forces.

The Alliance denounces that these actions are part of a strategy promoted by sectors of the Latin American extreme right, aimed at reversing social achievements, dismantling sovereign projects, and undermining the will of the people through non-electoral mechanisms.
