The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) categorically and unequivocally condemns the infamous sanctions imposed this July 11, 2025, by the U.S. Department of State against the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as well as against the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas.
These illegal and immoral sanctions, which include migratory restrictions and persecution of family members, do not reflect an expression of force, but a portrayal of the profound fear that imperialism feels in the face of the living example of resistance, dignity and sovereignty represented by the Cuban Revolution. In the name of unjustifiable pretexts, without legal grounds or international credibility, Washington insists on using pressure mechanisms that only reveal its historical defeat. The obsessive hostility against Cuba is part of an anachronistic policy that seeks to punish the Cuban people for deciding to be free and sovereign.
ALBA expresses its firm, loyal and unwavering solidarity with the people and government of the Republic of Cuba, with its political leadership headed by President Díaz-Canel, and with its historical legacy of struggle, resistance and construction of a human-centered social model.
History has shown that when the empire attacks, it is because the people are making headway. And when it sanctions, it is because they fear. They fear the strength of a model, the depth of conviction and the truth arising from justice. Cuba is not alone. The peoples of Our America walk by its side.
