The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) expresses its strongest, most categorical, and outright condemnation of the new colonialist threat issued by the President of the United States against the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s airspace. This announcement, which
is deeply hostile, disproportionate, and incompatible with international law, constitutes an act of political aggression that reaffirms Washington’s imperial behavior against the free peoples of Latin America.
ALBA denounces this threat as part of a geopolitical plan aimed at eroding the self-determination of Latin American and Caribbean states through military, economic, and diplomatic pressure. Attempting to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction over Venezuelan territory, imposing instructions, or conditioning
the integrity of its airspace is not only illegal but also constitutes an arrogant provocation against the entire region. It is the reaffirmation of an old pattern: the one of those who still believe they have the right to impose rules on our skies, our borders, and our destiny.
Similarly, it alerts the international community that this offensive coincides with the unilateral decision by the US government to suspend regular flights for the repatriation of Venezuelans under Vuelta a la Patria Mission. This action, which directly affects families, children, and migrant workers, confirms that Washington is willing to manipulate the migration crisis as a tool for political blackmail. It is morally unacceptable, legally indefensible, and humanly reprehensible.
ALBA states with absolute clarity: the threat against Venezuela constitutes a threat against all sovereign states in the region. Intending to intimidate a sister country militarily is tantamount to threatening all of Latin America and the Caribbean. In response, the nations will not back down nor will they allow the
reinstatement of imperial tutelage over our continent.
