The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) congratulate the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the successful elections held on July 27, in which 335 mayors were elected through a democratic, peaceful, and participative process.
On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the birth of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, ALBA recognizes that there is no better way to honor his legacy than with the resounding expression of popular sovereignty demonstrated in these elections, a true reflection of a people-centered democracy deeply rooted in the soul of the Venezuelan people.
The Alliance also highlights the simultaneous youth popular consultation, which reaffirms Venezuela’s commitment to a participatory, inclusive, proactive, and full-time democracy aimed at involving new generations in the country’s crucial decisions.
ALBA expresses its firm support for the democratic will of the Venezuelan people and recognizes the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro Moros in defending peace and institutionality, ratifying that, despite foreign aggression, Venezuela is moving forward with dignity on the path of independence, social justice, and self-determination.
