We, the Heads of State and Government of the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) gathered in Caracas, Venezuela, on December 14, 2024, at the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government, within the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Alliance:
Commemorate that December 9, 1824, when in the fields of Ayacucho, Peru, the most important and decisive battle for the peoples of Latin America was waged: the Battle of Ayacucho. 200 years after this heroic deed, we reaffirm our free, independent and sovereign nature.
Celebrate this important date for the history of the South American continent, which sealed the exile of the Spanish empire, under the leadership of one of the most important heroes of our history, Antonio José de Sucre, faithful patriot of the troops of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.
Reaffirm our commitment to peace, sovereignty and self-determination of our peoples, as well as to the consolidation of the Great Homeland dreamed by our national heroes.
Resoundingly reject any hegemonic aspiration that seeks to deprive us of what 200 years ago belonged to us, thanks to the courage of those who believed in the cause of freedom.
200 years after this Battle, we are convinced that we are on the right path, guided by the libertarian and solidary spirit of our ancestors to continue facing and defeating imperialism and fascism.
“Soldados, de los esfuerzos de hoy depende la suerte de América del Sur; otro día de gloria va a coronar vuestra admirable constancia. ¡Soldados! ¡Viva el Libertador! ¡Viva Bolívar, salvador del Perú!”
“Troops, the fate of South America depends on today’s efforts; another day of glory will crown your admirable perseverance. Soldiers! Long live the Liberator!
Long live Bolivar, Liberator of Peru!”
Antonio José de Sucre
Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho
