Caracas, March 29, 2025 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Consumer Affairs of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Frederick Stephenson, warned during the 25th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) that multilateralism is currently under siege.
“Our ALBA-TCP has been called upon to prevent the destruction of the world. We must defend the unity of our ALBA in the face of global destruction,” he reiterated, while also calling for a firm commitment to solidarity, mutual respect, and the sovereignty of the peoples of the Alliance.
Speaking on behalf of his nation, Stephenson rejected unilateral sanctions, condemning them as illegal and having no place in the international system.
“Saint Vincent and the Grenadines rejects all coercive measures; we call for their elimination, as well as for Cuba’s removal from the list of alleged terrorist countries,” he stated.
In his view, it is crucial to revitalize ALBA’s efforts to protect territories from climate change and to strengthen health and economic mechanisms. “Solidarity is not just the answer—it is the only answer,” he declared.
To conclude, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ commitment to the principles of the regional bloc, in order to continue promoting the development of the Global South.
