Honduras calls for the lifting of unilateral coercive measures at the 25th ALBA-TCP Political Council

Caracas, March 29, 2025 – Scarleth Ivette Romero, Ambassador of Honduras to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, emphasized that Honduras remains firm in its call for the United States to end unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.

Speaking this Saturday from Venezuela during the 25th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America–Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held as part of the agreements reached at the 12th Extraordinary Summit of the regional bloc in February of this year, Romero reaffirmed Honduras’ stance.

“We reaffirm our struggle for Cuba to be removed from the list of sanctioned and so-called terrorist countries, for the lifting of unilateral coercive measures against Nicaragua and Venezuela, and we express our solidarity with their peoples,” she stated.

She further asserted that, as nations of the same region, they must uphold democracy as a genuine process.

Romero also reiterated the invitation to the ninth Summit of Heads of State, scheduled for April 7–9 in Tegucigalpa.
