Grenada at the 25th ALBA-TCP Political Council: The Alliance is the ideal instrument for providing the services the region needs

Caracas, March 29, 2025 – During the 25th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held in Caracas, Venezuela, the Minister for Economic Development of Grenada, Lennox Andrews, affirmed that the island reaffirms its commitment to the sovereign right of peoples to make decisions without the interference of other nations.

He also emphasized that ALBA-TCP is the ideal instrument for producing the goods and services we consume and need, calling for continued efforts to strengthen common economic plans.

Andrews pointed out that, at present, the nationalist decisions made by the United States reveal contradictions in their application. “It is up to us to work together, sharing our time, our talents, and our resources so that we can be truly independent, free from dependence on those metropolises that seek to dominate us,” he declared.

Speaking from the Casa Amarilla ‘Antonio José de Sucre’, he highlighted that Grenada makes all its economic development mechanisms available to ALBA to contribute to the sovereignty of the region’s peoples.

The Minister of Economic Development of Grenada once again condemned the blockade and sanctions against Cuba and underscored the solidarity of the largest island in the Antilles with Latin America and the world. “I call on the United States administration to put an end to this discourse against Cuba (…) If we must lose our visas to safeguard our people’s health with Cuban doctors, we will do so,” he added.

Finally, he reaffirmed that Grenada remains committed to the Bolivarian Alliance, recognizing it as the regional bloc that defends integration and solidarity.
