Caracas, December 14, 2024 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Douglas, stated that, in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), all Heads of State and Government honor the memories of Commander Fidel Castro and Commander Hugo Chávez, reaffirming their commitment to the peoples of the Caribbean and Latin America.
During his address at the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government, Douglas expressed gratitude to the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, for hosting the participants at this summit, which he described as carrying “the memories of two giants.”
He asserted that today, the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance “reaffirm our commitment to ALBA-TCP, which will remain a part of the history of our peoples. We reaffirm our membership in ALBA and our dedication to democracy and the freedom of the peoples of Latin America.”
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, inaugurated the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty this Saturday from the Simón Bolívar Park Convention Center, in the state of Miranda. The summit commemorates 20 years since the regional bloc was founded by Commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.
ALBA was established on December 14, 2004, in Havana, Cuba, through the signing of a Joint Declaration and the Agreement for the Implementation of the Bolivarian Alliance.
