ALBA-TCP joined the Commemoration of the 203rd Anniversary of Nicaragua’s Independence

Caracas, September 16, 2024 – With a floral tribute at the coffin that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in the National Pantheon of Caracas, Rander Peña, the Vice Minister for Latin America of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Affairs; Alfredo Ruiz, the Ombudsman, were present this Monday alongside Nicaragua’s Ambassador to Venezuela, Daysi Ivette Torres, to commemorate the 203rd anniversary of the independence of the Central American nation.

During the solemn ceremony, accompanied by the heroic notes of the “Gloria al Bravo Pueblo” and “Salve a ti,” the authorities, along with representatives of diplomatic delegations from brotherly nations, reaffirmed the bonds of solidarity between the parties, in the name of Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Daniel Ortega. ALBA-TCP was represented by its Director General, Edith Peraza.

Cooperation and solidarity have been permanent aspects of the diplomatic relations between Caracas and Managua, Cooperation and solidarity have been a constant in diplomatic relations between Caracas and Managua, which have been clearly expressed amidst tense political circumstances through firm statements in favor of peace and respect for international law. Both governments share the vision of consolidating a new multilateral world order.

In 1821, the inhabitants of the Spanish province of Nicaragua, like those of other regions, decided that the time had come for radical independence. Consequently, the bloody wars of independence in various territories of the continent, along with other factors, led them to achieve this dream: the birth of their new free and sovereign country on September 15.

It is worth noting that the Republic of Nicaragua officially joined ALBA-TCP on February 23, 2007.
