Tegucigalpa, June 28, 2024 – The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, in the context of the commemorative events of the 15th anniversary of the coup d’état in Honduras, expressed the bloc’s pride towards the Honduran people.
“Honduras has proven to be ALBA people, a people descended from Francisco Morazán, Simón Bolívar, and José Martí”, Arreaza stated from Vicente Cáceres Central Institute.
Regarding accusations from the right-wing Honduran press that the Bolivarian nation was using the São Paulo Forum “to impose a guide on Honduras to make it like Cuba or Venezuela”, he responded that “in the left, in progressive and revolutionary movements, there are no recipes, no manuals. The recipes come from the International Monetary Fund, the recipes come from NATO, the recipes are those imposed by imperialism”.
In that sense, he assured that the Alliance seeks “freedom, the liberation of our peoples, and we share solidarity, we always support and help each other. We have only come to propose that each country should build its own process and its own path”.
Arreaza emphasized that “in the left, we feel the needs of the people, we seek solutions for education for everyone, for healthcare for everyone, for food, for housing. What we are seeking is happiness as the Liberator Simón Bolívar said, trying to build each one from their territory, with their own consciousness and ethics, and that the government system provides the greatest possible sum of happiness to the peoples”.
Furthermore, former President Manuel Zelaya affirmed that the actions of reclaiming and conquering the rights of the people provoke the reaction of the empire and its organizations.
Meanwhile, the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, reaffirmed her gratitude to the countries that “dared to expose the truth in a world dominated by media manipulation”, while also speaking out against the economic blockade imposed by imperialism on Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.
