Caracas, April 24, 2024.- Within the framework of the 23rd Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, the Ambassador of Honduras, Scarleth Romero, reaffirmed her country’s commitment to multilateralism and peace diplomacy.
“Today, on the International Day of Multilateralism, we reaffirm our commitment to a sustainable role in the promotion of peace and security, and for the respect and strict observance of human rights around the world,” she said.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of regional unity and cooperation among the countries of the regional bloc to face common challenges.

“After 15 years in permanent resistance as a Honduran woman, as a permanent militant of a cause and representative of Honduras in the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, I feel honored to be here,” she stated.
Romero also referred to the “criminal” blockades imposed on the Venezuelan and Nicaraguan peoples, and condemned foreign interventionism.
“We are today compelled and unwaveringly committed to develop all capacities for unity and fraternity among peoples and nations based on peaceful coexistence and the resolution of disputes, and therefore we condemn and repudiate all acts of intervention, aggression and interference in the internal affairs of States”.
She also invited the heads of state and delegations of social movements to participate in the commemoration of the Day of Popular Resistance in Honduras, which originated after the coup d’état perpetrated against the democratically elected president Manuel Zelaya in 2009 by U.S.-financed forces of law and order.
“ALBA was at that time and continues to be a shield of hope, unity, strength, an alliance of brothers and sisters. In Honduras, we will always be eternally grateful,” concluded Romero, quoting the words of President Xiomara Castro.
