Caracas, April 24, 2024.- Within the framework of the 23rd Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held in Venezuela, the ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis, Norgen Wilson, encouraged member countries to strengthen cooperation in science and technology for a more strategic development of their natural resources.
“We have to be more strategic in the development of our science and technology in such a way that we don’t hand over our natural resources to developed countries, only to have them sold back to us for 10 or 20 times the price,” Wilson stressed.
The ambassador highlighted that the region’s natural resources are an invaluable asset, comparable to oxygen for the planet. “We have the resources, the people and the educational institutions.”

On the other hand, Wilson stressed the importance of ALBA-TCP as a platform to promote regional unity and cooperation. “It is important for us to support ALBA-TCP because it promotes unity and cooperation, and we all know that as sovereign states we have the right to make our own decisions.”
Although he acknowledged that member countries may have some differences, Wilson emphasized that they also share many common goals and challenges. “If we work together,” he said, “we will be able to solve many challenges”.
