Gaston Browne: ALBA is good for the hemisphere and will lift our peoples out of poverty

Caracas, April 24, 2024.- “The Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) is good for the hemisphere and will lift our peoples out of poverty, (…) leading them to prosperity”.

This was expressed by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, during his speech at the 23rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, held on Wednesday at Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.

Gaston Browne affirmed that U.S. imperialism makes poverty eternal, and for this reason, he highlighted that the Alliance has the task of continuing to consolidate the union of member countries.

On the other hand, he stressed: “From Antigua and Barbuda, as an ALBA country, we are calling for them to eliminate the embargo against Cuba. We condemn the imposition of unilateral measures against Venezuela and Nicaragua. These measures are unjustifiable”.

He also said that the regional bloc should protest against the nonsense actions committed in Gaza and defend Palestine, “a people which must be recognized as a State”.

Finally, Browne urged the Alliance to consolidate ties of energy, food, technology, among others.
