Caracas, April 24, 2024.- On the occasion of his participation in the 23rd Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed the need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to overcome the challenges facing the region.
In this regard, Díaz-Canel described ALBA as the “alliance of miracles capable of making seemingly impossible projects and feats a reality to benefit people in the social area. He also said that the organization provided the answer denied for centuries to the region; “it is the alliance that allows us to face challenges and threats together”.
For this reason, he affirmed that “Cuba will always be present in the Alliance because, despite the difficulties imposed by empires, our Alliance has proven how and how much can be done from the South if this solid solidarity prevails”.

In the international realm, he demanded, on behalf of the organization, “a comprehensive solution to the conflict in Palestine, allowing the consolidation of that State”, as well as the membership of this nation in the United Nations and urged the Security Council to fulfill its mission and put an end to Israel’s impunity.
Regarding Venezuela, the Cuban president congratulated the “development of the new electoral process taking place in peace and in accordance with its Constitution; they have achieved this despite attempts to resort to violence, but they have failed and we are not talking about old plans”. In addition, he “firmly supported the denunciation” of the nation, “regarding these plans that seek to prevent the development of a peace and security process. We once again reject external interference and impositions on Venezuelan government institutions; we denounce the imposition of unilateral coercive measures and demand their immediate, permanent and unconditional lifting”.
Finally, regarding Haiti, Díaz-Canel proposed the creation of a special international solidarity fund for the recovery of this sister nation, where international banking institutions should coordinate actions and Haiti’s debts should be condoned.
