ALBA-TCP: leading the way in defense of peoples’ right to development

Almost two decades after its founding, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) has evolved “into a great alliance for the life of our peoples,” President Nicolás Maduro said.

In the context of the 23rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, which is being held at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, he stressed that, since 2004, it has demonstrated its vanguard nature in defense of the right of peoples to development, peace and sovereignty.

“ALBA has proven its great capacity to be at the core of the truth for the right of peoples to development, independence, peace, democracy, freedom, sovereignty, in short, the right to life,” he said.

Now, in view of the new challenges of world geopolitics, the Venezuelan leader said that ALBA-TCP “has to be government, countries, but, most of all, people, social movements in the streets, mobilized with fighting spirit”.

Our America continues to be rebellious and independent

While mentioning that the Bicentennial of the Battles of Junín and Ayacucho, as part of the Southern Campaigns, will soon be commemorated, he highlighted that Our America continues to be rebellious, alert and ready to fight eager for justice and independence.

“200 years later, Our America is ready to conquer its new paths of happiness, prosperity, progress as a region of peace, independence and sovereignty,” he stressed.
