ALBA-TCP creates fund to guarantee treatments and vaccines against COVID-19

The Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced on Sunday the creation of a $2 million fund to procure vaccines and treatments against COVID-19 for the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).

With this initiative, ALBA-TCP becomes the first union of nations enabling Latin American and Caribbean countries to procure vaccines against coronavirus in the face of the monopoly promoted by supremacist elites, explained Maduro.

According to the Venezuelans president, the nations led by the extreme right wing have imposed “meanness and individualism by depriving thousands of people of the vaccine.”

“The European Union and the United States must think about the world. That’s why in ALBA-TCP we have made a huge leap forward to guarantee all treatments,” said Maduro.

Regarding the vaccination campaign in Venezuela, he recalled that “Venezuela will receive 10 million Sputnik-V vaccines very soon” thanks to a humanitarian airlift established as part of the Caracas-Moscow strategic alliance.
