Saint Kitts and Nevis before ALBA-TCP: The practice of democracy must be the pillar and essence of our existence

During the celebration this Monday of the XVIII Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), the representation of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis recognized the role of the alliance in the life of the people and the development of democracy, trade and sovereignty of its member countries.

Ambassador Vance Amory was the delegate of Prime Minister Timothy Harris, who pointed out that thanks to the visionary decision of the alliance and its principles of “cooperation and shared policies”, they were able to “shake” the neocolonialism that has insisted on undermining the future of the people.

He added that Saint Kitts and Nevis recognizes that “if we want to advance as a bloc, it is necessary to share and strengthen cooperation, support and mutual policies in the region and at the international level, so that we can confront interference attempts.”

Likewise, Ambassador Amory mentioned the work of all the ALBA-TCP member states and highlighted the recent electoral days in Bolivia and Venezuela, as an example that “the practice of democracy should be the pillar and essence of the existence within the ALBA-TCP.”

“I want the ALBA-TCP to have a successful future for the people of our region”, he said.
